They needed updated 3D BIM models that could be utilized for energy calculations and to identify suitable types of renewable energies. In response to the client's objective of exploring retrofits for enhanced energy efficiency, we delivered 3D BIM models for residential houses, encompassing all the essential details required for comprehensive Energy Analysis. The plan included potential retrofits such as the installation of solar panels, air-operated heat pumps, and wall insulation. The UK-based scanning company is capturing housing data effectively using scanners and drones to help energy companies for making Energy Efficient houses. The Challenge
The main challenge for the client was a turnaround time which was 3 days per house including the BIM model, sheet work, and quantification. Extraction of quantification data to get details like room names, room sizes, wall thickness, roof, slopes, etc was a time-consuming process. Also, achieving 5mm accuracy with point cloud data was difficult.
