What is FlexSim Training?
FlexSim training is a structured learning programme that teaches engineers and operations professionals how to build, run, and interpret Discrete Event Simulation (DES) models using Autodesk FlexSim software. Training covers manufacturing lines, warehousing systems, material flow, AGV/AMR automation, and process optimisation — progressing from foundational to advanced modelling skills.
Training Structure - Phased Capability Development
Our FlexSim training follows a phased progression model, ensuring participants internalize each level before advancing. This approach prevents cognitive overload, builds long-term retention, and produces engineers who can independently execute simulation studies - not just follow guided exercises.
Core FlexSim Training — Foundation
The Core program builds a strong foundation in FlexSim and basic discrete event simulation modelling. Sessions are conducted remotely in two-hour blocks, accommodating working professionals without disrupting operations.
Coverage: DES fundamentals · FlexSim environment and navigation · Core objects and material flow modelling · Basic logic and decision concepts · Introduction to Process Flow · Task sequences (operators and transport logic) · Running models and interpreting results · Common modelling pitfalls and best practices
On completion, participants can:
- Build basic FlexSim models independently
- Understand model behavior and simulation outputs
- Prepare for structured logic development in Intermediate training
Intermediate FlexSim Training — Structured Logic
The Intermediate program focuses on building working models with structured logic and complex system dependencies. Conducted approximately 15 to 30 days after Core training, allowing time for independent practice.
Coverage: Process Flow architecture and logic control · Task sequences and resource coordination · Warehousing models (receiving, storage, retrieval) · Assembly line dependencies and shared resources · Kitting and sub-assembly integration · Model structuring for scalability and reuse · Competency-based development methodology
On completion, participants can:
- Build end-to-end working simulation models
- Implement logic beyond default FlexSim object behavior
- Develop models suitable for internal analysis and ongoing operational projects
Advanced FlexSim Training — Application-Specific (Future Phase)
Advanced training is agenda-driven and application-specific, typically conducted on-site at your facility. It focuses on modelling real systems from your operations — AGV/AMR automation, ASRS design, digital factory simulation, throughput optimization, and bottleneck analysis — using your own data and layouts.
